Well, here it is! Hop on over to the downloads page and download yourself a copy of Incursion!
It’s been a very long 14 months in the making. It took lots of really late nights and long weekends by a whole bunch of dedicated people to make this a reality. Most people on the team worked for free or for very reduced rates in order to just make it real. It has been brutal but it has been a labor of love. We all hope you enjoy yourselves with this game.
I can’t thank everyone who worked on this here but I would, in particular like to call out my friend Tammy (Tears of Envy) who was always there to prop me back up when I started to fall. Also, without the expertise of Andy and Wendy of West Wind Productions, this thing likely would not be…
So, we have at last reached the end…of the beginning!
Board Wargames
Klingon Armada — Now Available
Klingon Armada, the Star Trek expansion to Starmada, is now available. You can get it from ADB or MJ12. Klingon Armada uses the license from ADB and their Federation Commander/Star Fleet Battles universe for quick play Star Trek rules using the Starmada rules system. FC/SFB fans can finally fight larger fleet actions. The game is also ideal for use with the Starline 2400 miniatures. A printed version of the Starmada: Admiralty Edition rules is also available.
Space Hulk Now Available!
Well it turns out the Games Workshop ‘Mystery Box’ and ‘Space Hulk 2009′ rumors were one in the same. This is great news for Space Hulk fans. Unfortunately it is only a limited release so we will probably not see much support for it.
The game is shipping with a 23-page Rulebook, a 47-page Mission book and 35 plastic Citadel miniatures, including: 11 Space Marine Terminators, one Space Marine Terminator Librarian, 22 Genestealers, and one Broodlord. Also included of course are the cardboard corridor sections and misc counters. Read the rest of this entry »

RAF: The Battle of Britain — Coming Soon

Decision Games is redoing RAF, the classic solitaire game on the Battle of Britain from West End Games originally published more than two decades ago. RAF ‘deluxe’ is now three games in one. You can play solitaire as the British or the Germans or play it as a two-player game. The original RAF was probably one of the best solitaire games ever made. It used a card-based system that was easy to use and kept both the excitement and the challenge high. We are looking forward to this remake.

Federation Commander Briefing #2 — Review

Amarillo Design Bureau’s latest expansion for Federation Commander, Briefing #2, is very well timed considering the recent release of the new Star Trek movie. Briefing #2 takes Federation Commander back to the ‘Middle Years’. In the world of FC (and SFB) the Middle Years are the closest thing to the period of the original Star Trek series. World at War: Blood and Bridges — Review

World at War: Blood and Bridges is Lock ‘N Load Publishing’s latest edition to its World at War platoon-level, Cold War era board wargame. It is very similar to the original release, Eisenbach Gap, in that it is a complete standalone game not an expansion. In fact the easiest way to describe Blood and Bridges is as a bigger, better Eisenbach Gap. Read the rest of this entry »
Shoulder of Orion — Now Available
Bell of Lost Souls, the popular Warhammer 40K site, now has its first board wargame available. Shoulder of Orion is a two-player boardgame of sci-fi boarding actions. It is provided as a PDF and players will need to print and cut out the components.
Its really easy to learn, offers a set of 6 different fleets with differing playstyles and plays fast. Face off with a friend as deadly Colonial Marines or the brave Naval Crewman in a race against time to control the ship!
The heart of Shoulder of Orion is a set of 6 deck-tiles with different objectives and corridor layouts types on them. The players will take turns laying these down and construct a different board each time you play.
Once the board is built, you assume control of one of the six fleets of the Shoulder of Orion world, and begin your battle for control of the ship. You will hunt your foe through dark corridors, capture or defend shipboard objectives, be wary of the deadly robot, and fight your way to ultimate victory and control of the ship.
Incursion Beta Rules Available
Grindhouse Games released beta (test) rules for its upcoming weird WW2, sci-fi board/miniature game Incursion. Also available are test rules for the initial Allied and German units.
The rulebook is a 30 page pdf. The rules themselves comprise ten pages with another three pages of missions, eleven pages of cards, and six full-color map-tile pages. The cards and map tiles are rather uninspired but this of course is just a test pack and certainly not indicative of final art.
The rules are rather straightforward and reminiscent of Space Hulk. Incursion uses action points and command points. The big innovation over similar games is the use of the Battle Cards. Essentially the Battle Cards add extra chrome to the game without the need for a lot of extra rules. The cards cover things such as extra ammo, armor piercing ammo, jammed radio, snafu, and a whole lot more.
Overall it is a solid initial effort and hopefully the gaming community will provide lots of feedback to further develop and improve the game.
