ForgeWorld announced Imperial Armour Volume Six: The Siege of Vraks -Part 2.
Our new Imperial Armour book continues the story of the bitter war to control the traitor world of Vraks. Trapped in brutal conflict, the once loyal population of this world have been led astray and plunged into the heretical worship of Chaos by the actions of the Apostate-Cardinal Xaphan, and now must face the wrath of the Imperium they once served. For ten years the bloody-meat grinder of Vraks has fed on death and both sides now look to break the vicious stalemate by bringing new forces to play. For the Imperium, the merciless regiments of the Death Korps of Krieg press their onslaught relentlessly, aided now by the mighty Red Scorpions Space Marines, while the colossal Titans of the Legio Astorum take to the field in the Imperium`s efforts to crush the traitors once and for all. But the heretics of Vraks are not alone, as like vultures to a rotting carcass the forces of Chaos are drawn to this war-torn world in ever increasing numbers, and for Vraks the worst horrors are yet to come. AT-43 July 2008 Releases — Review
Rackham released a number of new figures for AT-43. Most of them seem to be for the upcoming Operation Frostbite expansion. The Red Blok got two releases. First is the MedTec Unit Box set. The MedTec set includes a field hospital, one medic and two nurse figures, and three double wall sections. The hospital is a regular cargo container with some added bits and a new paint job. Overall it looks very good and the fact it is formed from a cargo container gives it a very mobile, military look. Read the rest of this entry »
Apocalypse Reload — Review
The gents over at Bell of Lost Souls have a very nice review of Apocalypse Reload, Games Workshop’s latest expansion for Apocalypse.
Overall if you liked Apocalyse you will want to get Apocalypse Reload. If you did not there is really nothing in it that will change your mind.
This Week in Wargaming — WH40K 5th Edition Review
The This Week in Wargaming podcast has a good show that covers Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition. It features, amoung others, Jon “Brimstone” from Warseer.com. The show is a good overview of what is new in 5th edition and the impact of the changes. Also interesting are the opinions on the impact of the changes on tournament play as well as the recent FAQ updates to the various codices. If you wish to skip right to the 40K material forward to about 30 minutes into the show.

This Week in Wargaming — AT-43 Review
This Week in Wargaming did a podcast with a nice overview/review of AT-43. It covers the game and the various factions pretty well. The audio is good but one of the guests has a lower volume than the others that can be somewhat annoying especially if you are listening while driving. If you would like to skip right to the AT-43 material forward to about 40 minutes into the show.

AT-43 Dotch Yaga — Preview

Rackham, in Cry Havoc Online #99, released some AT-43 preview images of the upcoming, and long awaited, Red Blok Dotch Yaga strider. They provided a 3D rendering and two different sketches (sketch1, sketch2). The Dotch Yago is somewhat reminiscent of the WW2 German 88mm Flak gun.

Games Workshop Design Studio Podcast
Games Workshop has a new irregularly scheduled podcast. Up first is a 46-minute episode on design philosophy,
In our first episode, Studio veteran Jervis Johnson and Warhammer 40,000 rules designer Alessio Cavatore talk about the changes that were made to the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, focusing on the new rules and their impact on the game.
It is an interesting podcast but the audio quality is not the best and the various accents can be a bit tough to understand. You can subscribe directly.
They now have part two available, Design Philosophy II: 40K Rulebook Background Section.

AT-43 Cogs and More

Rackham, in Cry Havoc Online #97, released some preview images of upcoming AT-43 minis. There are a few Cog figures that all look a bit too skinny to be threatening. Hopefully the other Cog troops look a bit more scary.
There are also two new figures (troop and TacArm) for the O.N.I. Corps. I have not heard of this faction before and do not know if it is a new playable army or a portion of the U.N.A. Army. Certainly the weapons and use of the name TacArm seem to indicate U.N.A. origins.
They also showed a Therian Golgoth concept image (image1 and image2) created by a player that looks very nice indeed.
Cry Havoc Online #98 has some better looking Cogs.
Cry Havoc Online #99 has a Cog in what looks like an exoskeleton (or maybe powered armor) with missile launchers. Image1, Image2, Image3.

Cry Havoc Online #100 has a number of new AT-43 images. First is a nice size comparison shot of the Cogs. They are big indeed! There is the Fire Crawler lieutenant card. Perhaps most interesting, and very menacing, is the final MRX Golgoth conversion (image1, image2, image3, image4).
Cry Havoc #105 has some more great shots of painted Cogs.
